Patterns of Speech

I will guard my ways lest I sin with my tongue. I will gird my mouth with a muzzle, while the wicked are in my presence. (Psalm 39:1)

A popular saying rehearsed is, “speak freely!” Today’s thought, Watch your words!
Be careful what you say, even to whom you speak.

The wisdom of this…

Sirach 37:16 – A word is the source of every deed, a thought every action.

We can say things. Sometimes beautiful and pleasant, loving to one another. Then other times we speak so harshly and hurting, condemning. It’s easier some think, it seems, to lie rather than speak the truth.  But if you're willing, you can. Find a way! With David’s words as is the wisdom

Guard your ways, your habits your thoughts, the things that consume your time; in order that you might be careful what you say and who's around to hear you speaking.

The thought is not simply, think before you speak. It’s, what you speak breathes life. What life are you offering today?

The Marriage Proposal - Will You Marry Me?

A rousing thought of 1st Corinthians 7:1-6

Enhanced and paraphrased, “Headache or no headache this is about promoting fidelity”

In the actual text, you can read Paul addressing an issue in the church at Corinth. The issue being addressed is sexual decency, or immorality. Purity is the ascription, yet Paul offers some best practices for those who can’t reach that high.

(NIV) Now for the matters you wrote about: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. I say this as a concession, not as a command.

A Not That Private Exhortation

It seems fashionable to say we live in uncertain times or an uncertain landscape. Having faced some degrees of uncertainty and enduring great difficulty I am reminded with purpose and command. Nothing is Uncertain in the process.

You may not know. The road may be difficult. It may take a strenuous effort. Yet the truth is. The process is the same the only variable is YOU, the individual. Where is your faith?

How or what is it you believe? I’m reminded of an instance. After a miracle is performed and a great multitude is fed, the disciples are instructed to head to the other side of the sea. During the trip a storm arises, and supernatural or not – the master is asleep, they panic. We panic. We get angry. We get despondent. We faint. And I would say luckily Jesus was with them (in the flesh). Yet it’s not luck and there are two blessings in remembering it. He was with them and they went to Him.

A Mother's Word - A Mother's Faith

A Mother’s Day Inspirational
Based on John 2:3-5

As a child it can be difficult, to say the least, to grasp the vision laid for your life. Given various circumstances that may seem especially hard to overcome, nearly insurmountable, God provides us a gift, mothers.

Allow me to preface today's inspirational with a thought or two.

  1. Fathers have a say, their own unique touch.
  2. A Maternal bond doesn't just come from giving birth.

These things however not withstanding, the power of a mother’s faith and perception can transform a simple visual outlay, of destiny, into the full birth and realization of a dream.

For the complete picture allow me to posit a verse; Luke 1:31-33

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.

The Power of Renewed Purpose

A famous film has a line that goes. “Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up again.”

This stirring reminder of the journey we’re on is complimented with another thought.
There’s no lying down on the job. You’re not paid to count sheep. You’re here to watch and pray, less you enter into temptation. You’re here to be sober minded and vigilant. You have an enemy prowling around looking to devour something. In all these things, today be reminded. There’s work to do.

You are an employee, citizen, ambassador; emissary, representative, child, steward, liaison… You are here on God’s behalf. You are His image. (Genesis 1:27) You are His body. (Ephesians 1:22) Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost unto God. (1 Corinthians 6:19) You’ve got work to do. According to the power of the first command, Be Fruitful and Multiply!

In the quote and the thought there is a powerful symbolism for the church and the church body (members). You may not be perfect. Things, situations, may cause a stumble or fall. Yet, you are a work in progress. This means action is the key, in progress.
The purpose hasn’t changed. The mission has changed. There’s work to do.

The power and authority hasn’t been taken away. We fall, why? It doesn’t matter.
Any number of reasons can apply. Ultimately you have (we have) got to get back up. Remember!
You’re on the job. There is no lying down. The text records, Awaken o sleeper. (Ephesians 5:14) If you’re too afraid to watch for the wolves, Be Vigilant, then about hearing the master’s voice.
You’re here after all to bear fruit. It’s your purpose and you are empowered to do so and. Multiply!

An exhortation brought to you by the soon to be released

“Hallelujah, I said.”

A Personal Letter to the Churches

My fellow ministers,

Also Available @ Amazon
I know time is precious. An invaluable resource not to be lightly given to everything that seeks our attention. Yet in this very vanity I ask for your voice. Your wise words, your prayers or thoughts concerning this collection I have been honored to assemble.

The "Bread for Adversity" is a seed collection, 30 days exploring the building and pruning power of faith. Looking at everyday circumstances with a view of opportunity to push forward when everything screams go back or better said, quit here.

I am not asking for your endorsement or advertisement, though these would be well to share the word with others. I ask, as voices more seasoned of faith than my own, for a small amount of your time; a measure of faith if you will. If you would help me make this and future publications everything God intends they should be. In the ability I should be able to produce for Him.

I offer this collection to you in several electronic formats, and further at no cost or obligation to you.

I thank you for this brief indulgence.

In Christ,

Be blessed, be strengthened and encouraged.

You Shall Lack no Provision

How much are you asking of God? To what level are you willing to rely on Him as a resource in your life?

Consider what you believe for a moment.

Where does life come from? Who is the source of breath (spirit) of life? Acknowledging these answers are the foundation of your needs being addressed. Is the God you serve, you trust, limited?

From a financial perspective explore Psalm 50:10-12. Further illustrated in Haggai 2:8, the wealth is the Lord’s and He Gives it to the sons of men. (Deuteronomy 8:18) The need you face has an answer. Your answer is in God. The want you desire has its answer to God. His name even stipulates. El Shaddai – God Almighty All Sufficient (Genesis 17:1). Coming to know Him in this way will alleviate much of the stress that may arise from a sudden turn of events.

Having this relationship will also comfort you when circumstances don’t reflect what He says. When faith is put to question and the only correct answers is – I Know who I believe.
That however is another subject. Of provision, please understand, your proximity to Him (God) is your proximity to your supply and desired increase. (Genesis 45:5) This is especially true in times of need. We may not know what tomorrow holds, yet He knows and prepares what it takes to bring you through it. He puts it in place and all you have to do is walk to it.

Recite this Thought:

There is no lack, poverty, or insufficiency in God. As His seed with Christ, I accept no lack or poverty in me.

He Promises you:
Psalm 37:4, 5
(ESV) Delight yourself in The Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will act.
